Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Shogi Dojo. If you still need help, use the contact form.
What is Shogi Dojo?
Shogi Dojo is a browser-based Shogi platform for online play, game review, quizzes, and engine analysis — all under one account.
How do I get started?
Sign up at https://shogidojo.online (Google or email login). No install is required; we recommend a recent Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge browser.
How does online play work?
Open the Lobby, create or join a waiting room with your preferred time control, and you will be taken to the game board when matched. Finished games are saved to your history and review library.
What is the rating?
Your rating changes after rated games. View current value, wins/losses, and history on your profile. You set an initial rating once when you first register.
Free vs Premium?
Free accounts have a daily limit on new lobby games. Premium relaxes limits and expands analysis usage. See the in-app billing page for current plans.
What can I do on the Review screen?
Replay saved games, add variations and comments, and run engine analysis with evaluation charts and principal variations.
Engine analysis does not work
Review analysis requires Shogi Dojo Remote Engine on your PC. Install a USI engine, create an API token in user settings, and configure the agent. The engine name must match the one selected in Review.
Where are KIF files managed?
Use the Files section in the web app to upload, organize, and download records in the cloud. You can also paste KIF text or create an empty record.
What are quizzes?
Practice “next move” problems from public lists with spaced repetition. You can also author your own lists.
How do I report bugs?
Email rustify@shogidojo.online with steps to reproduce and screenshots if possible.
