Rating Guide
On Shogi Dojo, your rating changes after each game. Your initial rating is set once at registration and cannot be changed later. Choose a value close to your current strength.
Strength benchmarks
Use your experience on other sites or your usual opponents as a rough guide:
| 〜1000 | Just learned the rules. Piece moves are familiar; basic attack and defense still developing. |
|---|---|
| 1000〜1200 | Beginner. Can handle simple castles and exchanges; sees short tactical ideas. |
| 1200〜1500 | Intermediate. Knows some openings and endgame shapes; few major blunders in later stages. |
| 1500〜1800 | Advanced. Good tactical vision and steady play under time pressure. |
| 1800+ | Expert level. Strong attacking plans and deep reading; suited for top-level opponents. |

Tips
- If unsure, start around 1200–1500 to match similarly skilled opponents.
- Refer to Shogi Dojo rating bands or ranks on other apps you usually play on.
- A higher initial rating means tougher opponents; a lower one means easier wins, but future changes depend on game results.
Note: The initial rating cannot be edited after registration. Your rating will rise or fall automatically as you play.
